1. University of Lincoln Sports Centre

With only students and staff allowed to use the facilities, this on campus gym is the prime choice for students. Situated on the first floor of the sports centre, the workout area is fully air conditioned, and is equipped with the latest cardiovascular equipment that allow for iPhone and Android connectivity. Alongside this equipment, the fitness centre also includes a sauna situated in the upstairs changing rooms, boxercise suite, cycling studio and aerobics/dance studio.

A free induction is offered and recommended for new members, with a specific induction also available for the free weights section of the gym. In addition to this, on purchase of a membership, all members are entitled to a programme designed specifically for you and your personal fitness goals.

2. Pure Gym

Pure Gym is possibly the most student-used gym in Lincoln outside of the University Sport Centre. Its 24 hour access as well as prime St Marks location means that it is one of the most accessible gyms in the city.

Membership at Pure Gym will get you access to all equipment use, as well as the multiple classes offered, from boot camp to spin.  You can choose to purchase a day pass or pay monthly, with Student price options available. Personal trainers are available here, and all new members are invited for a free induction to learn the equipment and gain advice.

3. Energie Fitness

With two branches in Lincoln, Energie fitness is another popular gym choice. Situated in both the Cornhill Quarter and uphill on Flavian Road, Energie provides a wide coverage for all student locations.

Membership to either branch is the same cost, and includes access to their classes. These gyms have a wider variety of classes, including circuits, yoga, Pilates, and even classes exclusively for females to help those feel safer in working out.

4. Total Fitness

A little way out of the city is Total Fitness. Whilst you would have to drive or bus to get here, this gym has a little more to offer than some of its competitors with its three pools, ladies only gym and café.

The offer of a free trial pass will allow you to try out the range of equipment and spaces on offer before purchasing a membership, where student discount is available.

5. Yarborough Leisure Centre

Situated uphill in close proximity to Bishop Grosseteste University, Yarborough Leisure Centre is another venue offering swimming as well as gym facilities. If you didn’t fancy the gym, the leisure centre offers pitches to hire for a wider range of activities, as well as a dance studio, sports hall, squash courts, and athletics track.

Membership is available as either all inclusive or gym only, however student offers are not available.

6. Anytime Fitness

With 24 hour access, Anytime Fitness is another option for a widely accessible gym. Based uphill on Wragby road, the gym offers a wide range of equipment to help maximise your workouts, from cardio equipment to weights, and even functional training spaces. Personal trainers are available to help give you a tailored workout, and you can take your workouts home with you with the membership access to an online fitness platform.

7. Everlast Fitness Club

Based down Tritton Road, Everlast Fitness Club is another gym choice with many facilities. Whether you want a gym workout, to swim a few lengths of the pool, or maybe even have a trip to the spa, Everlast has it all. With its disabled access, large class schedule, and optional personal training, there will be something for everyone.

Membership options are more limited, with there being no obvious student membership options, however the charges are competitive of other gyms with similar facilities.

8. Curves Fitness

Designed for women, Curves provides an exclusive gym with specially designed workouts, one to one coaching and strength training and cardio. Due to this, opening times are more limited than bigger franchise gyms, however Curves does offer a more personal touch, promoting strength and confidence.

Whether you choose to do a self-led workout, or one of the specially designed programmes, Curves aims to provide a space for a safe and effective workout.
