If you’re having to do resits it can be a bit daunting, but the best thing is that you’ll not have to worry about attending lectures or seminars while tackling them. You’re in a really good position to focus on these assignments or exams, and there are some great ways to maximise your potential!

Revisit Your Feedback

If you’ve failed an assignment or exam that you’re retaking, revisit your feedback from the first submission. This is a great way to figure out what you need to work on to ensure you’re getting the best grade you can. If your feedback is a little vague, reach out to the person who marked it (or your tutor if you’re unsure) and ask for some more specific reasoning.

Using Seminar & Lecture Material

Make sure to go over your seminar and lecture materials. If it’s an assignment you’re retaking, you’ll have a better idea of which seminars and lectures to focus on, but for an exam try to revise everything you can. Creating revision cards, posters, and notes can be a great way of retaining the information you need.

Use Library Resources

If your work could have been done with some improvement in structure or writing style, consider using the services offered by the library to enhance your work. They offer appointments online via teams or in person, and you can get specific feedback on your structuring and grammatical work.

Enjoy Your Summer

There’s only so much information the brain can retain in one day, so don’t overdo it! Make sure to enjoy your summer and go out with friends. You don’t need to spend every waking minute working on your resits, even if it feels that way. Try to create a schedule for revision (or working on your assignments), allowing plenty of time for you to socialise and relax, this way you can avoid burnout before even starting the next academic year.
