World Picnic Day!

It’s getting hotter finally and I don’t know about you, but I love a picnic! International Picnic Day took place on 18 June this year. So, in celebration, if you need some picnic inspiration on what to take, where to go and how to get there – this article is going to give you some advice!

What to take:

It’s always good to take a variety of things on a picnic and to remember things like cutlery and ice packs! These are a few things I like to take.

For example:

  • Sandwiches/rolls
  • Strawberries (or any other fruit – these are just my favourites)
  • Crisps
  • Sausage rolls
  • A chocolate bar (but make sure it’s next to an ice pack so it doesn’t melt)
  • Pasta salad
  • Potato salad
  • Cookies or brownies
  • Crackers

The list could go on and on but these are a few things I like to take. The most important things to remember when going on a picnic is actually not the food!

For example:

  • Picnic bag
  • Ice packs
  • Cutlery
  • Plates
  • Napkins
  • Picnic blanket
  • Cups
  • Thermos if you’re having hot food

After you’ve remembered to pack this then you should be all set. It is also important to plan where you are going to have your picnic before you leave. It needs to be somewhere fairly close as you don’t want your food to go hot.

Where to go:

A few ideas:

  • West common
  • Heartsholme country park
  • South common
  • Liquorice park

There are a few ways you could travel to these picnic spots. You could either drive if they’re a bit far away for you and you have a car in Lincoln. Or you try the bike hire system in Lincoln where you pay for a few hours of cycle time. They are located all over Lincoln and once you’re finished with the bike you just slot it back into its holder! Obviously, you could walk as well if you wanted to!

I hope this helped you plan your next picnic and gave you some inspiration for how to enjoy picnic season with your friends or partner or whoever you want to go for a picnic with!
