Celebrating Father’s Day Long-Distance

Moving away to University can mean that you sometimes miss out on certain holidays and celebrations. But just because you are not physically present, doesn’t mean that there aren’t ways that you can still be involved and celebrate. With Fathers Day just around the corner, here are some ways that you can still celebrate long-distance.

Organise a video chat

One of the simplest ways to celebrate long distance is to organise a video call. Even just a short chat can help you feel more connected and let them know you are thinking of them. It can help you to catch up and still be involved on the day, despite not actually being there.

Send gifts well in advance

If gifting is something you do for Father’s Day, you’re going to want it to arrive in time. Aim to send out a gift as close to the start of the month as possible to ensure this. You may need to enlist the help of someone who lives in the same household as the recipient, or give strict instructions for it not to be opened!

Choose the gift-wrap option

If you are sending gifts straight from a website, these are going to come in generic postage packaging. However, certain sites do some really lovely gift-wrap options that will give your gift that extra touch. Consider shopping with small businesses as they more often have extra, personal touches.

Plan to celebrate at a later date

Just because Father’s Day officially falls on one particular day, this doesn’t mean this is when you have to celebrate it. You could organise something to do when you are back together, such as maybe go for a meal or a day out, things that would also make nice gifts.
