Hopefully you’re on your way to Lincoln now. It’s exciting being in a new city, I briefly outlined a few places you might want to check out in a piece on settling into Lincoln. Here is a more specific list of places and events to visit Lincoln that are my personal favourites and why they are worth checking out!
Lincoln Street Food fest (dates TBC)
This is usually held over a weekend and is a festival full of foods from all over the world for you to try. From crepes to Caribbean cuisine this is not an event to miss, and don’t worry, it is open all day when it’s here
Lincoln Christmas market (held the 1st weekend of December)
Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, this is something you won’t want to miss. Lincoln is famous for its Christmas market, every year it attracts people from all over the country, it is one of the largest Christmas markets in Europe. Here you can find rides, as well as stalls full of craft and food, a nice winter activity.
Lincoln Arboretum
When the weather’s nice, you might want to consider heading to the arboretum with your friends. Full of greenery, it is the perfect place to relax and have a picnic.
Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle
As mentioned before, the cathedral is definitely somewhere you want to check out. When it was first built, it became the tallest building in the world. It is a beautiful building full of intricate designs and historical importance. It is also a great experience to visit the cathedral in a group later into the evening, when it is lit up with different colours.
Lincoln Castle is situated near the cathedral and contains an original 1215 Magna Carter. The castle also hosts an open-air cinema for a week which will be something fun to do with your friends.
Bailgate
Bailgate is located in the Cathedral Quarter and is home to many independent businesses such as restaurants, which is great if you are a foodie like me.
The Brayford waterfront
The Brayford has an amazing selection of restaurants including Zizzi’s, Nando’s and a Weatherspoon’s, hotels and even an Odeon cinema. With it being so close to campus it’s a great place to go after lectures.
If you don’t want to spend money, just walking down the Brayford pool is a breath of fresh air, with all the lights, the Brayford Waterfront is a beautiful sight to see.
