Mother’s Day Gifts on a Budget

It’s great when you can afford to treat your mum to something extravagant on Mother’s Day, but even the smallest and most inexpensive gifts can be just as lovely to receive. Being students, we’re often on a budget and having to watch our money, so it can be hard to shop for special occasions. I’ve spent some time researching some great ways to get inexpensive yet thoughtful Mother’s Day gifts, so you can still treat your mum this year.

Make a ‘Pamper Hamper’

Creating a hamper for your mum is a great way to include lots of her favourite things and keep costs low, and it’s also handy if you’re stuck for ideas.

Here are some examples of what to include:

  • Face masks,
  • Bath bombs,
  • Candles,
  • Chocolates,
  • A DVD or CD,
  • Some real or fake flowers/plants,
  • A pair of slippers,
  • Fluffy socks,
  • A personal bottle of wine,
  • A necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings,
  • A book

Shop on Etsy

Etsy is a great place to shop for Mother’s Day gifts, they often have unique and personalised items that you’d not find in any high street shop. Here are some examples of some adorable gifts I’ve found that aren’t bank-breakers.

If your mum is a cat lover, why not get her a beautiful enamel cat pin where all proceeds go to a cat shelter local to the seller in the UK. It’s a lovely gift that she can pin on her coat or bag, and also know that her Mother’s Day gift is helping cats in need.

If your mum loves hanging decorations around the house, you can get her this beautiful hanging heart, decorated with flowers.

If you and your mum have a special song, you can get the Spotify code printed onto a keyring, along with the option to upgrade and add any personalised text you want to.

Treat your mum to some lovely handmade soaps, which look like they’re a lot more expensive than they are!

If your mum is more interested in a small assortments of items for Mother’s Day, you can get her this small cute eggbox full of little treats like some dried flowers, jam, teabags and chocolate!
