Living in Lincoln – an honest review

This article is for any students who have not had the opportunity to explore Lincoln and what it has to offer.

My Experience:

Lincoln University’s main Brayford Pool Campus is situated in the centre of a historic, beautiful and modern city. It has state-of-the-art facilities, which means access to the latest equipment, resources and technologies, pioneering research, great links with industries as well as award-winning teaching; which is one of the reasons why I chose Lincoln.

In addition, Lincoln University allows you to express your views about academic study for each degree course as you can contact your course rep about any comments and recommendations, which they can then take back to their school.

From my experience of being a course rep, it really does have an impact on your course as the head of school and programme leader takes students’ views on board and works with the students aiming to take any recommendations made by students.

Pioneering Research:
Lincoln has a range of research institutes, groups and centres across all educational settings for pioneering new studies that current students can participate in at Lincoln. This allows the University to produce high quality research that can have an impact on our world.

Industry Links:
The Bridge: Lincolnshire’s Advanced Engineering Materials Research and Development Centre, which links with materials science and engineering businesses and works with professionals at the University of Lincoln to undertake world-class research.

AstraZeneca: Lincoln has direct links with top pharmaceutical industries where representatives from AstraZeneca come to the University to give talks about the pharmaceutical industry and set challenges to Lincoln students helping them expand their career choices.

Siemens Partnership: University of Lincoln, along with a small number of other UK universities, hold a Siemens Global Principal Partner Status, as it has been recognised for its research collaborations and has an achievement in expanding its graduate opportunities for STEM students with the Siemens industry.

Award-Winning Teaching:
The University of Lincoln was awarded Gold in the national Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2019 for consistently delivering outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes to the highest possible standards to its students, as well as providing extra support for students and excellent employment prospects.

These are some of the reasons why I chose Lincoln University.

Great Location:

Lincoln is a vibrant and thriving city, which is renowned for its old history. The Lincoln Central Railway Station is only a few minutes walk from the University of Lincoln. There are direct trains to London King’s Cross and frequent trains to other cities such as Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester.

The city has a lot to offer to students which includes a variety of amenities, attractions and activities. Students can explore the medieval heritage including the Lincoln Cathedral Quarter and castle, visit seaside towns and festivals which are all available in the heart of Lincoln; this is what makes it a fantastic place to live and study.
