International Tea Day

This year in 2022, International Tea Day falls on Saturday 21st of May, and I know I’ll be celebrating with a few cuppas! There are so many different teas in the world, but most people know some of the basics. Green tea, black tea, white tea, oolong tea, and pu-erh tea are considered the “purest” kinds among tea drinkers, all being derived from the camellia sinensis, a plant native to India and China. In addition to these, there are countless blends of tea made across the world which involve fruit, herbs, spices and all manner of flavourings, so you can be sure there’s a tea out there for everyone! This article will go into the health benefits associated with drinking tea, where you can purchase tea in Lincoln, and a few of my personal favourite blends!

The Health Benefits Of Natural, Non-Instant Teas

  • Mitigates cancer, and heart disease as well as helping prevent clogged arteries
  • Burns fat
  • Counteracts oxidative stresses on the brain
  • Reduces the risk of neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Reduces the risk of you experiencing a stroke
  • Improves the level of good cholesterol in the body
  • Contributes to the lowering of elevated blood pressure

Places To Get Tea In Lincoln

There are countless places in Lincoln where you can get hold of a range of teas, whether you want one made for you in a café or if you’re after some tea bags or loose leaves for home brewing! Here’s a list of the places I tend to go to get my tea fixes, many of which tend to be my local supermarkets, which very often have their own branded blends to offer – make sure you have a good browse so you know what your options are!

  • Costa
  • Starbucks
  • Café Nero
  • Waterstone’s Café
  • Tesco
  • Morrisons
  • Aldi
  • Sainbury’s
  • Marks & Spencer’s

Personal Tea Recommendations

I personally have three favourite teas at the moment, all of which are especially nice with ice in the on-coming summer weather we’ve been getting!

  • Morrison’s own Red Berry Sunset tea – an epic fusion of red berry, cranberry and strawberry flavours that really tastes like summer in a mug!
  • Twinings’ Strawberry and Elderflower tea – with aromatic Juniper included in this blend, a mug of this really helps me to unwind after a long day!
  • Orange Blossom Oolong Tea from the Top of the Morning brand – if you’re willing to wait for it to be delivered then it’s so worth it for the refreshing citrus and an added hint of jasmine!

Tea not only tastes good but is cheap to buy, easy to make and beneficial for your health! So this International Tea Day, take a leap and try something new if you’re getting tired of your PG Tips or Tetley, or even if you’ve never had tea before! I can say from experience, you certainly won’t regret it!
